Modules, permissions & cases
Use Bureaucramancer as a set of independent administrative modules rather than granting every feature to every server.
Modules
Each guild has its own module state. Archive, Attachment Protection, Backfill, Search, Identity, Cases, History, Inspection, Restore, Export, Backups and Tupper integration can be controlled independently. Guided Setup applies a sensible starting profile, after which individual modules remain adjustable.
Discord permissions
The bot can only read or act where Discord permissions allow it. Removing access to a channel also prevents new Archive/Backfill work there. Role hierarchy can limit role restoration and other administrative actions even when a dashboard user is a server administrator.
Trusted staff
Keep high-impact commands and dashboard access limited to staff who need them. Sensitive actions include Archive search/export, Cases, restore, retention changes, privacy fulfilment and billing administration. Bureaucramancer records staff/admin activity so material changes can be reviewed later.
Cases & evidence
Cases hold staff-created notes and preserved evidence snapshots. Evidence can be filed from Search so the case keeps its own reference even when normal Archive retention later expires. Cases should be used for legitimate moderation/safety purposes and access should be tightly restricted.
Clerk's Inspection
Inspection is a read-oriented diagnostic view for permissions, hierarchy, exposure and recovery readiness. It is designed to tell administrators where a configuration needs attention without automatically changing Discord.
